Motodestra began in 2000 as a solo alias of West Yorkshire based multi-instrumentalist Daniel Halliday. The first release, a limited-issue homemade CD-R called Between 12th And Freeways, arrived in 2001. Another four years passed before the self-titled Motodestra CD appeared, mainly due to dissatisfaction with the material the initial writing/recording sessions produced. A number of tracks from the earlier aborted sessions eventually appeared on a free download album, The Art Of Hiding, which was briefly available via this website.

Neither BTAF and TAOH are available to buy or download now, but they are included for the sake of completeness in the Discography section of this site. The self-titled Motodestra album is still in print and can be ordered from the Shop section. The self-titled album was followed by an acoustic project called Pictureville. The only Pictureville release to date, the Threads EP (3" CD-R), was released by Unpopular Records in 2006. In 2008 Daniel released the CD-R First Signs under his real name, an album performed 'live' using a single guitar, some effects and a loop pedal.

Motodestra, now expanded to a duo, are currently writing and recording new material for a possible EP and/or album in 2009/10.
